Tensylon is produced with a company proprietary solid state extrusion process, which forms the basis for Tensylon's many advantages and benefits in both survivability and commercial applications. In addition, the manufacturing process has a "green" environmental profile, requiring no environmental permits to manufacture.
Tensylon offers superior abrasion resistance, high resistance to creep, and high tensile modulus and strength. These are significant advantages when compared to other high-performance materials, such as para-aramids or gel spun UHMW-PEs.
Tensylon Commercial Applications
Products within the Tensylon portfolio were developed for use in commercial applications, such as aerospace and sporting good high-performance sails, rope, cordage, netting, cut protection and dental floss. Tensylon is EAR Controlled and is classified ECCN 1C990.
