Eurofighter Typhoon
FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom – BAE Systems has today announced its schedule of media briefings for the 2010 Farnborough International Air Show, which takes place from Monday 19 July until Sunday 25 July.
All briefings will take place in the BAE Systems’ media centre, an integral part of the company’s 5,000m² pavilion at Farnborough International Air Show. Invitation to the centre, which provides a working newsroom environment and comfortable base, is extended to all journalists visiting the show.
Monday 19 July
09:30: Meeting Security Challenges through Innovation
This briefing will highlight information innovation to deliver more effective and efficient services at reduced cost, focusing on intelligence led support and cyber security.
10:30: Taranis
Following roll out on 12 July, the briefing will highlight the exceptional level of UK Government and Industry collaboration achieved in order to develop and deliver world beating technology in the form of this next generation airframe.
11:30: Defence Avionics
This briefing will focus on innovative technologies that improve and enhance situational awareness, mission effectiveness and defensive capability for air platforms.
13:15: Power Management
Nearly doubling the on board power of most vehicles, the On Board Power Management system answers the military’s need for increased electrical power for combat vehicles.
Tuesday 20 July
09:00: Readiness & Sustainment
Supporting customers’ missions’ lies at the heart of BAE Systems’ global readiness and sustainment capability. This briefing will highlight the delivery of solutions to the customer from preparation and training programmes that ensure military personnel and equipment are ready for use, to maintenance, management and enhancement services.
11:30: Force Protection
This briefing will provide insight into technologies currently in development to protect and support frontline troops, including Liquid Armour, Multi-Operated All Terrain Vehicle, Hyper-spectral Imaging and Radar Absorbent Material.
13:15: Ultra-Lightweight Warrior
This briefing will highlight the Ultra Lightweight Warrior system, which offers soldiers adaptable, scalable protection while delivering weight savings of up to 35 percent, when measured against comparable systems, thus aiding mobility and survivability.
Wednesday 21 July
09:00: Defending our Naval Fleet against Air Attack
As HMS Daring prepares to enter into full operational service with the Royal Navy, this briefing will provide clarity on the true extent of the Type 45 destroyer’s ability to defend the UK’s existing and future naval fleet against air attack
10:00: Industry Roundtable
A roundtable hosted by John Excel, editor of The Engineer magazine will take place in the BAE Systems’ media centre, with key engineering representatives from defence / aerospace, civil and space. Agenda includes discussion around design, manufacturing of UAVs and skills requirements to remain competitive.
12:00: Headborne Energy Analysis & Diagnostic System Generation II
This briefing will provide information on the BAE Systems’ developed helmet sensor package. The Headborne Energy Analysis & Diagnostic system identifies and assists in the diagnosis of combat-related head and brain injuries, which according to many medical professionals are fast becoming the signature injuries of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
